History[]

See the Image Comics' Tiffany page for a complete biography.

Tiffany is an Angel who is first introduced in Spawn Issue #33. She is the direct executive assistant of Rafael and tried to kill Spawn so she could become a high-ranking angel.

Legal Issues[]

After a 2002 court battle, it was legally ruled that Neil Gaiman was the co-owner of Medieval Spawn and Angela.[1][2] In 2010, Gaiman would sue Todd McFarlane, alleging that Dark Ages Spawn, Domina and Tiffany were all derivative of the characters he owns; Dark Ages Spawn was derivative of Medieval Spawn, and Domina and Tiffany were derivative of Angela. The US District Judge, Judge Barbara Crabb, would rule in favour of Gaiman,[3] with the judge stating, specifically in the case of Domina and Tiffany:

"Domina and Tiffany are mere variations of the Angela character: members of the phalanx of Heaven’s angels, “kick-ass warrior angels,” conceived by plaintiff and defendant. Like Angela, Domina and Tiffany fight Hellspawns and other demons of Hell. Like her, they wear provocative and scanty costumes and glamorous hairstyles. Their family resemblance is evident. They are not identical to Angela, but substantially similar. Certainly they are similar enough to be infringing if they had been produced and sold by someone other than the copyright owners. The totality of their attributes and traits, that is, their visual appearance, their costumes, their manner of speaking, their activities and their common origin (Heaven’s angelic phalanx), mark them as derivative of Angela. Domina and Tiffany capture the “total concept and feel” of Angela, and are recognizable immediately by Spawn fans as warrior angels destined to fight Hellspawn."[4]
