Neil Gaiman is a British writer, considered the "co-creator" of Cogliostro and Medieval Spawn, which were designed by Todd McFarlane. Due to a bitter legal battle over the ownership of the characters, Gaiman won the full rights to Angela so McFarlane could still use Cogliostro and Medieval Spawn. This is why Angela has completely disappeared from the Spawn franchise.
